New York Climate Week

PlanetPlay participated in New York Climate Week 2025 as part of a global gathering of policymakers, NGOs, businesses and climate innovators. The week offered an invaluable platform to highlight how the games industry can play a meaningful role in climate action.

Jude Ower joined a panel on “Digital Culture as a Catalyst for Climate Action”, sharing insights alongside representatives from the UN Environment Programme and leading youth climate organisations. The discussion emphasised the importance of reaching new audiences—particularly younger generations—through entertainment platforms they already love.

PlanetPlay also co-hosted a roundtable with SYBO games for US‑based studios, climate tech partners, media platforms and NGOs, to explore ways of integrating environmental action into mainstream titles. These conversations identified opportunities for cross‑sector collaboration in the fields of behavioural insights, carbon literacy and collective digital mobilisations.

Throughout the week, Play2Act data was referenced in multiple discussions on public engagement, demonstrating how player sentiment can help inform climate narratives and support evidence‑based policymaking.
The event helped forge several new partnerships, setting the stage for an expanded presence in Climate Week 2026.
