Can a mobile game help shape climate policy? In Austria, it just did.
🌍🎮 Can a mobile game help shape climate policy? In Austria, it just did.
We’re thrilled to share the results of the Green Jobs Case Study, as part of the Horizon Europe GREAT project (www.greatproject.gg), which united:
✅ Klimafonds – Austria’s key climate innovation fund
✅ Centre for Social Innovation (Barbara Kieslinger, Claudia F, Katharina K)
✅ Serious Games Interactive - game design partner Simon Egenfeldt-Nielsen
✅ 9 schools with 100+ students aged 15–20 actively contributing to real policy debate
💡 The innovation? A dilemma-based mobile role-playing game that helped students explore and express their opinions on “Green Jobs” in an engaging, interactive format, and tackling real-world green job dilemmas — giving students a direct voice in policy through play.
Particularly, it
🔹 Engaged underrepresented youth
🔹 Delivered actionable insights to policymakers
🔹 Created a scalable, low-cost model for participatory innovation
🎯 This isn’t just about education — it’s about embedding youth voices into policymaking, and the study proved:
🔹 Scalable
🔹 Cost-effective
🔹 Culturally relevant
🔹 Politically impactful📘
And now, we’re taking it one step further.🔁 Curious about bringing this model to your region or sector?
